Responsible Research is the exclusive partner in Asia to deliver RepRisk, a web-based tool which provides insights on environmental and social issues that present financial and reputational risks to companies and investment portfolios. The tool enables commercial and investment bankers, asset managers, and supply chain managers to manage the corresponding risks and to implement effective screening procedures.
RepRisk's assessment of the environmental and social performance of a company is based on the company's activities in the field as observed by independent third parties, and is not derived from information provided by the company itself. The tool monitors global media sources, more than 700 NGO websites, newsletters, news websites, blogs and other online sources daily.
As of February 2010, RepRisk had identified 13,000 companies as well as 2,600 projects that are viewed as controversial. Issues covered range from employee and community relations to resource availability and efficiency, environmental footprint and product-portfolio related risks. In particular all principles of the UN Global Compact are addressed.
The RepRisk Index (see right) is an indicator of a company's or project's exposure to controversial issues. It allows an initial assessment of risks which are attached to investments and business relationships. It highlights relevant exposures and allows you to compare the exposure of an entity with its peers and to track risk trends over time.
